A maritime emergency exercise is underway in the Raglan area.
Exercise Hyper began yesterday and finishes tomorrow. It involves the local surf lifesaving club, coastguard, and Waikato Westpac Air Ambulance helicopter. One scenario being run off Manu Bay has centred on 15 people in the water needing rescuing.
Although it was an exercise, there was a touch of reality when one of those in the water began suffering hypothermia and had to be rescued.
