Update: Evening of 19.08.13

The accident, which happened at the Bankart St/Wainui Rd round, resulted in a head injury to
one of the curb runners after he slipped trying to get back on the truck. Although he was
taken to hopsital by the Rescue helicopter he turned out to be much better than was initially
thought and was happily texting his boss while waiting for a scan at Waikato Hospital around
5pm. Contrary to rumours he was not run over by the truck.

As the vehicle is part of a commerical operation copious safety regulations had to be
followed, which resulted in Bankart St being blocked off, the truck being coned off and the
immediate dispatch of the Serious Crash Unit. The vehicle was inspected by the crash unit and
found to be up to standard but was then taken into Hamilton for a more detailed inspection
overnight.

Xtreme Waste Operations Manager, Gavin Melgren said that he expects the truck to be back out in Raglan at
10am this morning when the team will begin their usual Tuesday pickup, one and a half hours
later than normal.
