The community team running the Raglan Sunday bus service gathered outside the museum on Monday 15th to mark the successful running of the service since April 2013. The Sunday bus service is a team effort run by Raglan Chamber of Commerce and the Raglan Community Vehicle Trust with any shortfall in funding met by the Waikato District Council. Raglan ward councillor Clint Baddley said, ‘This is a good example of local groups that could not provide a service on their own coming together for the community with support from the Council’. Chamber of Commerce Secretary, Angela Williams said that passengers were averaging eleven each Sunday, in line with expectations.

The locally provided Sunday bus service started when Waikato Regional Council pulled the plug on their Sunday service to provide funding for a Whatatwhata bus.

In another Raglan good news story, the winning team for the Commercial Building Award gathered in the museum on Monday 15th to hand over their award certificate to the Waikato Enterprise Agency for display in the Raglan i-SITE. The award was received by Livingstone Builders at a National Gala Dinner on Saturday 11th May 2013 in Auckland. The museum building was a  BRONZE AWARD WINNER in the Tourism And Leisure category.

Museum committee member Rodger Gallagher welcomed the team and visitors to the Museum and said, “When the Museum Society members learnt that Livingstone Building had been awarded the contract to build the museum they were very pleased that such a well-respected company was to build the museum.” and added, “The Society is very happy with the design and construction managed very capably by project managers Andy White and Steve Cox from Waikato District Council.

Councillor Baddeley congratulated the award-winning team and said, “This is an award that is very nice to have. I can’t remember Raglan getting another building award. One factor that allowed the museum to be built was that both the Raglan i-SITE and the Raglan Museum were co-sited in one building.”

The Museum & Information Centre building was constructed by Livingstone Building NZ Ltd, designed by Envision Architecture Limited (Architect/Designer) and JD Consulting Engineers Limited (Engineer). The building is owned by the Waikato District Council, with the museum operated by the Raglan & District Museum Society Inc. and the i-SITE by the Waikato Enterprise Agency.
