On Wednesday 21st August, Raglan Ramblers will be taking a long but worthwhile drive to Maungatautari to enjoy the bird sounds and see the takahe in this predator-free bush. They may split into an energetic group to climb the mountain to get views and another group of strollers doing more watching and listening. You’ll need to bring your lunch for this one.
There is a new fee for those going to Maungatautari Southern Enclosure, rather than the mountain.
As from 1st July 2013 there is now a facilities fee for entry to Te Tui a Taane, Southern Enclosure. The prices are:
- Adult 17 + $15.00
- Child 5-16 $6.00
- Senior/Student with ID $10.00
- Family 2 adults and up to 3 children 5-16 yrs $34.00
- Additional child $6.00
Please note Seniors must present their gold card to be eligible.
Walks usually start 9am Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook
