Raglan Community Radio 98.1FM starts news broadcasts

Raglan Community Radio has responded to one of the findings in its recent listener survey by broadcasting news at 6,7,8,9 and 10am, 1,5 and 6pm (weekdays) and 8 and 9am on Saturday with headlines at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30am. The broadcasts can be heard on 98.1FM, or at www.raglanradio.com. The survey, which found that 39% of Raglan listens to its Community Radio, also found a demand for local and farming news. RCR’s technician, Aaron Mooar, said, “We’re a community station, so it’s good to be able to respond to community demand. I’m working on the farming news request, but the local news is going to need help from our listeners; it’d be great to get emails to radio@raglanradio.com, or phone calls on 825 7966.”

The new news service comes from Lawrence in Otago, so avoids the “Auckland-centricness” of other news organisations, but covers national and international news from the mainstream, rural, regional, community and international agenda.
