The next Raglan Community Board meeting is Tuesday 11 June at 3pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 2.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues.

The agenda is at http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/a7/a72e689b-95d2-4121-a296-c6af93b9277a.pdf. Items on the agenda include –

  1. The Raglan community has actively participated in collaborative planning and strategy making with Waikato District Council over a considerable period of time. The development of the Community Plan, “Raglan Naturally”, in 2001 and its review in 2008 confirmed strong community support for the development of a more strategic approach to the development and management of change in Raglan, driven by the Vision statement
“To generate opportunities for local employment, new business and planned growth while protecting and enhancing Raglan’s unique character and diversity and having special regard for the environment”
And now the RCB is asked to “a Report “Raglan Spatial Plan” which has been passed by the WDC “THAT consideration for a spatial plan for the Raglan CBD and its surrounding environs is delayed until such time as the private plan change for the Rangitahi Peninsula is complete.” I think Not.

  2. I agree. The point of a plan is surely to plan what happens, not wait until it’s happened, then cope with the results. If the council had listened to Raglan people and followed Raglan Naturally, we’d have had a structure plan by now.
