On Wednesday night, along with Wanda Barker and Ange Blaikie, I had the privilege of judging Raglan Area School’s wearable art entries. And what an incredibly difficult job it was to select just 20 to be Raglan Area School’s entries in May’s Raglan Art to Wear competition. There was an amazing amount of creativity in the 168 creations.
Creating the wearable art was part of the junior school’s curriculum. Creations had to fit in with the Art to Wear categories of De Seuss, Wind Warriors, Myths & Legends, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle and Rainbow. The Myths & Legends category also included Kaitiaki looking at Maori creation stories of Tanemahuta, Tawhirimatea, Tumatauenga, Tangaroa, Haumiatiketike, Papatuanuku, Rongomatene.
Raglan Area School has set a high benchmark for this year’s Raglan Art to Wear! Well done teachers, parents and pupils.
