New Wainui Road bridge dropped

Enquiries made by community champion John Lawson have found that the new Wainui Road bridge Investigation and signage wayfinding review have been dropped from the LTP. Council says the work is still listed in the Transport AMP.

John says, “There is now no mention of the single lane bridge, which had $17.5m allocated to it in 2028-31 in the agenda put to WDC on 10 April. That seems to cut spending on Raglan local roading projects over the next 3 years to $700,000, with the whole of Te Hutewai roundabout funded by Developer and Waka Kotahi. And with ratepayers contributing $112,165 for walking and cycling and $83,872 for traffic calming, both financed through by loans, rather than current rates.”

Council GM Megan May said, “I know that there has been traffic modelling done, as well as historic structure plans which addresses your concerns.”
