Lisa Thomson: Meet the candidates – October Local Govt election

First in a series on the candidates that Raglanites can vote for in the October Local Govt election

Lisa Thomson standing for Whāingaroa Ward councillor – current councillor

I’m very privileged to represent our community at council and truly look forward to serving another term.

I bring experience and leadership, ensuring our community’s voice is heard, such as advocating for our improved wastewater infrastructure and we now have an operational state of the art treatment plant and a plan to finally remove treated wastewater from our ocean.

There are huge affordability challenges, experience is essential. Driving critical reviews of service delivery will be forefront; cost savings are needed, an example is our new roading contract, to improve service delivery and cost savings. There are no quick fix promises; these are complex issues. We rely on essential services, but they are becoming increasingly expensive, as is our ability to afford them. There is work to be done.

I work hard and get involved, I am accessible and I take pride in the work that I do.
