On the 8th May, Raglan Ramblers will be heading up Te Akatea-Pongawhakatiki. This nine kilometre walk will take them to the top of the pointed 309 metre hill behind Waingaro. The hill was formed from Pongawhakatiki siltstone about 188 million years ago (Ururoan). From the top there are views of Karioi, Whaingaroa harbour,
Huntly, Kakepuku and many other hills. Below is an area of regenerating bush. Please bring your lunch.
Walks usually start 9 am, Wednesdays, from James St near the Catholic Church and the intersection with Wallis St.
There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook-https://www.facebook.com/RaglanRamblers/.
Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
