Updated 5th July
The street lights are on again in Raglan’s Lorenzen Bay Road. They been out since the storm on 10th June apart from being on for 30 minutes at 5.30am on one day. Residents had logged the problem with the Waikato Council’s Raglan office on multiple occasions and made it clear that the lights were out in the whole street. They were told that it takes 30 days to fix street lights.
Raglan 23 asked Ngaruawahia to please advise:
1. Is Council’s standard really 30 days when all lights in a long street are out?
2. When does Council expect that the lights will be working again?
A spokesperson for the Waikato District Council said, “The response time to address lighting issues is a maximum of seven days unless the area is deemed unsafe, in which case they will address the issue immediately.
Council records indicate the first call about the lights was made to Council on 23 June. The site was attended on 26 June at which time the faulty fuse was located and replaced; the lights were also manually switched on to check they were working.”
Council records differ from residents saying that several people told staff in the Raglan office about the problem on multiple occasions.
