Jul 17: Peat Lake and Bush walks near Te Awamutu for Raglan Ramblers

On the 17th July, Raglan Ramblers will be walking on the six kilometre track around Lake Ngaroto peat lake, near Te Awamutu. Then they will do a much shorter walk to visit the nearby 14.5 ha Yarndleys Bush. This was gazetted as a Scenic Reserve in 1992, on account of being a remnant of once plentiful kahikatea bush. Trees average a height of 35 metres, with ferns, grass, mahoe, mangahonge, pukatea, wheki, ponga and mapou also growing there. Please bring your lunch.
