Although it has been a long wait for some action, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is pressing ahead now with repairs to State Highway 23 between Lorenzen Bay and Greenslade Roads just out of Raglan. In two locations a slip of the bank adjacent to the road surface had caused weakening of the road foundation.
As a precaution NZTA had closed the road verge in the two locations and narrowed the carriageway with markers. The highway has been like this for many months so it is great to see the remedial work of steel reinforced concrete pillars going in now. On the other side of the road surface on a corner, stabilisation work has been carried out on a high bank.
Drivers need to take care as at times as access along the length of highway is restricted due to the road works.
