Eucalypt-haus on Raglan lifestyle block wins at Architecture Awards

Eucalypt-haus, designed by Design House Architecture’s Kris Wilson won three awards at this years Waikato Regional ADNZ Architectural Design Awards. Hamilton based Design House Architecture won three awards for two projects.

His design of Raglan-located ‘Eucalypt-haus’ won the Residential New Home between 150m2 and 300m2, the Architectural Design Award and the Colour in Design Award.

The site offered an incredible backdrop of mature eucalyptus trees, with an outlook to mountain ranges and a distant ocean view. The obvious building platform was on the crown of a hill, falling away in all directions.

Judges said the home had carefully arranging angles, volumes, and sight lines to choreograph domestic life. This is demonstrated from the welcoming frontage facing the approach up the long driveway, to the external room that almost projects residents out into the view.
