Council staff come up with Raglan iconic images for Raglan Bus on Route 23

Proposed livery for Raglan Bus

There has been much discussion about having graphics on the Raglan bus at Raglan Community Board meetings.  The cost of the Raglan bus graphics has been the major concern.   Waikato District Council staff have now obtained a supplier for these graphics and a quote of approximately $3,400 plus GST, to apply graphics to both sides of the Raglan to Hamilton bus.
This cost is considered too expensive for ratepayer funding and it is suggested Council informs Environment Waikato that it does not want to proceed.
The Community Board members have indicated previously that they would support this expenditure if it is was positive for Raglan. The above image is included in next week’s agenda for the Raglan Community Board’s consideration.

Waikato District Council now wants to promote kids jumping off the Kopua Footbridge

A careful look at the new livery shows kids jumping off the Kopua Footbridge.  WDC has steadfastly maintained that jumping from the bridge is banned and their new design for the bridge makes no provision for jumping to continue.  As Raglan resident John Lawson says, “I’m interested to see the proposed livery for the Raglan bus (page 11 Community Board agenda)  includes, as one of 4 iconic pictures, this one of children jumping off the bridge. Is that an indication that the new bridge will provide for jumping?”
