Ends of thick blue plastic pipes are poking up out of the grass verge in Bayview Road, Raglan.  Over the last few days Council contractors have been installing pipes using the horizontal drilling method.  This causes the least disruption to  residents as underground drilling eliminates the need to dig trenches.

These additional main pipes are needed to install the water meters that are part of Raglan’s controversial water metering project.  As Raglan lacks water subsidiary water mains known as ‘rider mains’,  these have had to be installed at a large cost before water meters can be installed.

This project does not show on WDC’s list of projects as for a reason known only to them they have tagged it as ‘Manukau Rd’.

Similar work is being carried out in Wallis st and Government Rd.
