Thanks to generous support from both local and national businesses, the Raglan Film Festival is delighted to announce a prize pool of $500 for the 2013 RAFFA awards.

This is the first time in their five-year history that the awards, which celebrate the talents of local filmmakers and actors, have been able to offer a monetary prize. As in previous years, winners will also receive a custom-designed trophy from local steel artists Philip and Emily Meek.

Support has been received from Droidworx, Stendy Electrical, Grolsch, Creative Communities NZ – Waikato District, Raglan Community Radio and the Raglan Club. Awards will be presented for Best Actor/Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Director/Producer, Best Picture and in two open categories.

In light of the prize pool, the entry period for the awards has been extended until 12 August and the submission fee has been waived. Nominations are welcome for movies of any length and genre provided they have been crafted by filmmakers or actors from the Raglan Whaingaroa area (west of the deviation), or filmed within the local area.
The 2013 Raglan Arts Film Festival runs from 13 to 22 September at the Old School Arts Centre, with the popular awards ceremony taking place on Saturday 21 September. Keep an eye out for full details of the festival lineup, which will be announced in coming weeks.
