July 4, 5 – movies: FACKHAM HALL, GLENROTHAN, THE CHORAL

For the first weekend in July 2026, the Raglan Arts Centre cinema at The Old School, 5 Stewart St, has three movies screening.

On Saturday afternoon 4th July at 5pm, British comedy, FACKHAM HALL is screening. Then on Saturday evening, the new release movie, GLENROTHAN is on at 7.30pm. And on Sunday afternoon at 4.30pm, there is the first screening of THE CHORAL starring BAFTA nominee, Ralph Fiennes.

July 5 Movie- THE CHORAL

As war rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) emerges as the most suitable choice as the new Chorus Master.

In WW1 with most Yorkshiremen are in the army, The Choral’s ambitious committee, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together.

A British Comedy spoof that crosses Downton Abbey with Flying High and Monty Python, Fackham Hall follows lovable pickpocket Eric Noone (Radcliffe) as he lands a job at a unique English manor house. He quickly rises through the ranks, and a forbidden romance with lady-of-the-house Rose Davenport (McKenzie) blossoms. But when an unexpected murder occurs, Eric gets framed – leaving Rose and her family’s future perilously uncertain.
