A problem in the link between the Te Uku microwave repeater and the Raglan telephone exchange isolated Raglan from 1.30pm to 9.00pm on Tuesday 30th November.
While local phone calls were possible in Raglan, Te Uku had no phone service at all. Calls from Raglan to Hamilton and further afield got a message saying, ‘serious overloading’.
All EFTPOS was also out and Garrett automotive had the closed sign up. The Four Square could only handle swipe EFTPOS. ATMs, mobile phones, email and web access were all out.
