Small drop in daily Covid cases for Raglan, Hamilton and central Waikato

by Rodger June 19, 2022

New cases in Raglan, Hamilton and central Waikato have trended down from 260 a day in early June to around 245 a day in mid-June. New daily cases are tracking in a 173 to 245 band There is a slight downward trend. This means that there is likely to be 4 new cases of Covid in Raglan each day with about 30 active community cases, self isolating.

For our graph we have combined new daily cases numbers in Hamilton City, Raglan and other Waikato District areas (e.g. Tamahere, Whatawhata, Ngaruawahia, Huntly and Gordonton). Starting from a high level of over 1200 daily cases in early March, the numbers plateaued at about 1000 then began to slowly drop down to just over half the peak to 785 on 25th March. After tracking at about 200 a day in early May, they then went up to 350 a day, but have now headed down to around 245 a day.

There were 331 new cases reported in the Waikato DHB region on Friday 17th.

The total number of cases in this Waikato outbreak is now 106,741 (2565 active and 104,176 recovered).

There are 22 COVID-19 positive individuals receiving care at Waikato DHB hospitals – this is a mix of patients who are receiving care for COVID-19 and those receiving care for an unrelated condition who have also tested positive. None are in HDU or ICU.

From 23rd May, the Covid RATs Community Collection Site (Pre-order required) site for Raglan has moved to the Raglan Food Bank at 36 Bow Street, Raglan. (Between the Gym and the Vet.)

It is open:

Mon 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Wed 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Fri 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
