Mar 28, Apr 5: Movie – TENOR ~ MY NAME IS PATI

The remarkable story of charismatic Samoan opera star Pene Pati who sang his way from humble origins in Samoa onto the world’s greatest opera stages.

What distinguishes the film is its blend of intimacy and performance. Moments of everyday playfulness, Mario Kart, shared humor, and brotherly warmth sit alongside reflections on a difficult childhood, guided by their father. This grounds the story in emotional honesty without tipping into sentimentality. The result is a portrait that feels deeply human.” Aaron Goldstein, Spoiler free reviews.

ABC RADIO, Matt Neal 4/5 Stars. “The story wrings a lot of emotion out of the story – more than the documentary – making this fictionalised retelling punchier, more heartfelt, and yet still (mostly) true to its subjects”
