The next Raglan Community Board meeting is on Wed 30 July at 1.30pm in the Supper Room, Raglan Town Hall. The public forum will be near the start of the formal meeting, giving an opportunity to discuss issues. You might prefer to email/phone the Board.

John has summarised the agenda:

Wednesday’s agenda is only 25 pages (and another 26 pages of funding applications), but includes –

  1. Wainui Reserve 30 year plan key stakeholder engagement soon as part of the staged development plan for the reserve. This process will provide an important opportunity for current users to share their perspectives and help shape the future of the reserve..
  2. Stormwater of 26km of pipes, “2.83 km of CCTV inspection and 1.7 km of network flushing were completed in Raglan, with 28 tonnes of sediment removed.
  3. SewageMBR Upgrade. . . commencing in August.
  4. WaterWater Supply Renewals . . . Point Street & Tutchen Ave = 95%, Papahua Reserve = 25%
  5. CCTVWorking through the installation/Camera tender.
  6. Greenslade Rd Reserve playgroundplanning to start the physical works in August”.
  7. Wi Neera South End walkway completion of both sections concludes the upgrades”.
  8. SoundsplashNo update”.
  9. Discretionary fund has $4,906.04. There are  $1000 applications from Raglan Naturally for Busking Day on Sun 9 Nov, Tumanako Whaingaroa for a mental health Gum Boot Event on Sat 15 Nov at Papahua, Te Uku Hall for murals and Surfside for Sun 14 Dec Christmas at Wi Neera St.

Strategy Committee 24/6 A meeting was held with stakeholders of the Raglan Aerodrome and staff are now preparing a plan outlining the next steps which will be reported to Council.

Long Term Plan agenda

  • RCB plan was an arduous process that the majority of the Board feel was a waste of time
  • applications for the Raglan and Matangi sewage works resource consents are expected to be lodged by September
  • Discharge to land project has a $5.3m budget
  • XZW divert just over 50% of everything that enters their site

Beaches bylaw workshop 7/7

19 people drowned at Papanui Point 1989-2024, ; all but one male, 47% of Asian descent. 60% of visitors from Hamilton. Coroner recommended lifejackets Horses on beaches Public consultation in March 2026

Policy 28/7

A Notice of Direction regarding Raglan Fish Ltd, was issued following a complaint that they were using treated or contaminated wood in their fish smoking process. An investigation was undertaken by Sudhir Kumar, Senior Environmental Health Officer and FSO and the Notice was issued. A subsequent visit indicated that the premises was compliant with the requirements and the Notice was lifted.

Infrastructure 23/7

Nicholls & Uttinger Ltd – Delivered multiple packages including Raglan and Ohautira Road slip repairs.

Proposals for Lorenzen Bay Recreation Reserve (to read them see page 99) include native planting, better access, nature play areas, educational signs and a new boardwalk / walkway to Greenslade Rd.
