Third in a series on the candidates that Raglanites can vote for in the October Local Govt election
Dennis Amoore standing for Raglan Community Board – existing member of RCB
I have completed two terms on the community board and we have completed some significant projects during this time, the wharf precinct development, Papahua walk way, foot path to Wainui reserve, new waste water treatment plant being four of these.
Going forward my priorities will be: A spatial plan for Raglan driven by residents, not developers, that gives us a detailed plan that can guide development for the following 30 years, showing areas of commercial and industrial growth, new development of parks and reserves etc; Rates control by challenging council to focus on its core business; Completing the development of a 30-year plan for Wainui reserve; Development of a community hub for youth and indoor sports; Ensuring rural communities of Te Uku, Te Mata and Waitetuna have the opportunity to have a voice at council chambers.
It’s time to reinvent how council works or amalgamate.
