Raglan’s Manu Bay boat ramp will be closed for five days this month, from 13 to 17 April, while Waikato District Council fix up the ramp ahead of the World Surf League event in May. The Council will also be replacing the Manu Bay boardwalk and says it will be closed
We’re making some safety improvements to the ramp surface, including hard washing and filling holes and voids.
Emergency services access will be maintained at all times.
The Manu Bay boat ramp will be closed from 6am, Monday 13 April to 5pm, Friday 17 April.
Boaties will need to use alternative boat ramp facilities during this work, which is weather and tide dependent. WDC says they have a back-up window of 27 April to 1 May if they are unable to carry out the work at the planned time. And they thank the community for their understanding.
These works aim to mitigate some issues ahead of WSL, with renewal works on the boat ramp planned for after the May event.
Manu Bay boardwalk also closed and replaced
The Council says they are also replacing the Manu Bay boardwalk, and it will be closed from 7 April, with works planned to be completed in early May, in time for the World Surf League event.
Raglan’s Manu Bay boardwalk will be closed to the public from 7 April, while WDC replace the boardwalk and associated structures, which have significantly deteriorated due to age and environmental exposure.
The work is planned to be completed by early May, in time for the World Surf League event.
As a valued community asset, the boardwalk plays an important role in providing safe public access within the reserve.
Also, a reminder that the Manu Bay boat ramp will be closed 6am, Monday 13 April to 5pm, Friday 17 April, while we carry out safety improvements to the ramp. Emergency services access will be maintained at all times.
